What is Indoor Hockey?
Indoor Field Hockey is played on a court/floor. Players use indoor sticks that are lighter and thinner. The game is similar, but faster-paced. There are side boards that are used to play the ball to pass off the wall (similar to ice hockey). The main caveat is that the ball may not be lifted off the floor except in a shot or flick on goal. Good work ethic and coachability are the two biggest things you need.
How Will Indoor Hockey Help My Outdoor Game?
Because of the smooth surface, play is very fast which really helps players develop their stick skills, timing, and body positioning. The addition of sideboards helps players think more about passing angles. This combination vastly improves your outdoor game!
What Equipment Do I Need?
All players should wear sneakers or court shoes (NO cleats!), shin guards, mouth guards, and stick. Left-handed gloves are recommended. Players are permitted to use their outdoor stick although indoor sticks are typically used.
